(Tempe, AZ) – The City of Tempe is pleased to announce that lifeguard Victoria Przydzial has received the “Golden Guard” award by Ellis & Associates (E&A), one of the most prestigious awards in the industry. Victoria is the first Tempe lifeguard to receive the honor in 15+ years.
his coveted achievement is reserved for lifeguards who were observed performing their typical job duties, during unannounced safety audits, while exhibiting behaviors that surpass the expectations of all safety standards in areas such as swimmer surveillance, professionalism and vigilance. This elite status is achieved by only 1% of all lifeguards evaluated at E&A client facilities.
“We are proud to recognize lifeguards who are clearly the best of the best,” said Richard A. Carroll, E&A Senior Vice President and COO. “This lifeguard is a role model for lifeguards everywhere; her performance underscores the fact that all guests are afforded the highest degree of swimmer protection.”
E&A’s “Golden Guard” awards are presented to lifeguards based on their individual performance during unannounced safety audits, which are done four times a year. Audits include video of individual lifeguards while on duty. Additionally, individual and team basic life support and skills are evaluated along with their response to simulated emergencies.
Tempe is home to Escalante, McClintock and Kiwanis Pool, which is home to the Valley’s only indoor wave pool. All pools offer swim lessons, open swim sessions and fitness classes. Learn more at tempe.gov/pools.
